In consultations with wedding couples I often get asked what is a pre-wedding shoot and why do we need one? A pre-wedding shoot is as it says really: a photoshoot that happens a couple of months before the wedding. It is also sometimes referred to as an engagement shoot which is essentially the same.
I really believe that the wedding photographs are so much better if I’ve got to know the couple beforehand. The pre-wedding shoot, which is included in all of our packages, is a big part of that getting to know each other. So I’d really recommend having one! I find that couples are much more relaxed on the wedding day when it comes to the photographs if they’ve had an pre-wedding shoot beforehand. Oh and of course they’ll get to see some amazing images of themselves as well which can be used for fun stuff for the wedding like save the date cards, a signing frame or guest book.
We did a pre-wedding shoot recently with Katherine and Dave on the deserted streets of Manchester early one Sunday morning. We had a wander through Castlefield and found some great locations for the shoot which provided a range of backgrounds. It was also great for me to be back in Manchester and I couldn’t believe how much had changed since I was at university there.
