Well, it’s only 8 days into the new year and already one of my resolutions has fallen by the wayside. I’d promised myself that I’d take a photograph-a-day, something that I’ve seen a number of photographers do, and it seemed like a good idea. The problem I have is that although I’m constantly seeing images with my eyes that I want to capture, I don’t always have a camera on me. My mobile has a camera on it, and although it’s useful for taking reference shots of locations etc, it’s not good enough for producing images that I can work on adequately in photoshop – well, actually, that’s a lie – it does, I’m just not an advocate of the quality of mobile phone images.Anyway, I’ve resolved myself to making notes about ideas for images that I see, so at least the creative element isn’t lost there!
January 25th sees myself and my collegue Marc Bryam holding a workshop for the day. Entitled “The Boxing Day after Boxing Day”, we’ll be conducting a workshop for other photographers in a real boxing gym. We’re aiming for 10 photographers to spend the day learning about lighting, composition and the creative elements needed to produced lifestyle, editorial and glamour images. We also hoping to have some professional boxers as well as models to capture the grittyness of the world of boxing. More details can be found here . It should be a great day – though from my perspective, tiring (but exciting) as I’ll need to be on my toes!
