Last Saturday saw us photographing the wedding of Helen and Nick at Our Lady and All Saints in Stourbridge followed by the reception at the Gainsborough Hotel near Kidderminster. It was a beautiful day and thankfully the weather held for the day – the only drops of rain falling as I left to go home at 10pm!
All the weddings that I photograph are important to me, but this one held personal connections for me, as Helen and her family have been family friends for many years, in fact I went to infant and junior school with her brother Matthew.
Due to the fact that there was quite a distance between where Nick was getting ready, Helen’s parent’s house , the church and the reception – I was helped by my collegue Marc Byram. I’ve worked with Marc closely over the last two years – helping him with weddings up in Cheshire – so it was kind of Marc to repay the favour at short notice
In situations where the logistics are difficult and the photographer needs to be in two places at once, the only way to achieve it is to have another photographer in attendance. In this case, Marc’s help was invaluable as both the logistics and parking in Stourbridge was a nightmare – but worth it for the images we got with the couple.
It was a real pleasure to be part of Nick and Helen’s day and to able to capture it for them – getting great image in the process!
