A Moseley Engagement Shoot {Sarah and Justin}
I always ask clients if there is somewhere that they would like to have their engagement shoot. I love it when a location has meaning to a couple. So, for Sarah and Justin’s engagement shoot – they had asked for Moseley Bog. For those not from Birmingham, Moseley Bog is a nature reserve not far from where Tolkien grew up. It’s said that he took inspiration for the locations in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings from these locations in Birmingham.
I see why people that live in the area like the Bog – it’s a wood which does feel almost magical – though at this time of the year it’s better for photographs as the trees have lost some of their leaves and more light reaches the ground. The shoot was made more special in that Sarah brought her family’s dog, Milo, along as well!
Engagement shoots are a really useful addition to a wedding photography package especially when a couple may be nervous about having their photographs taken. About 95% of my clients tell me that they hate having their photograph taken – but by the time they’ve seen my images – they’ve changed their minds!
I keep my engagement shoots fun and relaxed – and in essence it’s not really about taking photographs – it’s about getting to know the couple and understand what important to them on their wedding day. I love the fact that I can try different ideas out and see what works and what doesn’t – and also the best angles to photograph people – as it gives me great feedback before the wedding day.
Anyway here’s Sarah and Justin’s engagement shoot!
