One of the aspects I really love about my job is the fact that I get to meet so many different couples, all of whom are unique. Engagements shoots (or pre-wed shoots) are really useful from my perspective because they enable me to find out more about a couple – what makes them unique and how they are together. You see, as all my wedding couples are different, it’s important that not only do we all get on – but it’s vital that I understand what makes them work as a couple in order that I can capture their uniqueness in photographs.

Kevin and Victoria wanted something a little different in their engagement shoot. As their wedding was  a spring wedding in the Cotswolds, they wanted to bring some of that countryside feel to the shoot – but they also loved what I did in terms of urban styled photographs. We decided to go to Worcester for the shoot and so we scheduled it for the middle of October when the Autumn colours would be at their best.

We started along the river by the racetrack and gradually worked our way back towards the cathedral. It was a great opportunity to catch-up with their wedding plans and find out more about them and how they met. I love the fact that on an engagement shoot, it’s a slightly more relaxed setting than on the wedding day, so it also gives me the chance to see what different styles of images the couple like and take into account things that they might not want to emphasize in their photographs.

What was really great about their engagement shoot was that we managed to fit in everything from cool contemporary portraits to beautifully artistic landscape-esque shots which featured Worcester and the river Severn.
